If you’re looking for a light, contemporary sports romance featuring an Olympic sport (rowing), or maybe you’re partaking in an Olympics readathon, then look no further. Float My Boat<\/a><\/em> by Harri Beaumont released on Friday, and it’s the perfect, sizzling summer romance to accompany the games (even if the rain seems determined to fall in real life …).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Float My Boat<\/em> follows Miri, a thirty-something ex-Olympic hopeful who, after a troubling time in her past, announced to her whole rowing club that she’d never date anyone at the club. Except she didn’t realize that Andrew, a tall, blonde, new-ish member of the club who she’s not not<\/em> interested in was in earshot. Damn.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roll forward ten years, and Miri is sort of dating Theo, a younger man at the rowing club who’s also a complete player. She’s only interested in him because there’s no one else available, but when he drops her like a stone, Andrew suggests a way to teach Theo a lesson, and help Miri get the guy – they should fake date – it’s sure to drive Theo wild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miri finds herself accepting his ludicrous offer, and then he kisses her in front of ALL their friends, leaving Miri reeling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throw in some whimsical summer rowing events – regattas and parties and club evenings by the river – a little “there’s only one tent \/ chair” action, and a steamy slowburn payoff, and you have yourselves a bingeable combination perfect for the moments in between when you’re trying to follow how exactly Judo scoring works, waiting for the rowers to get to the sharp end, or critiquing the syncronisity of the high board divers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
